Naturopathy (Back to Top)
Naturopathic Doctors are some of the most highly educated and rigorously trained healers in the world. My treatment philosophy is based on the understanding that your body has enormous power to heal itself and everything I do is aimed at getting you in the best possible place for that innate healing power to work.
I borrow an example from Traditional Chinese Medicine which eschews the germ theory. "When the water is stagnant," they say, "mosquitoes will be attracted. You can swat the mosquitoes with an herb or an antibiotic or a medicine or a chiropractic treatment or you can surgically remove them, but as long as you are aiming at mosquitoes, you are misguided. If you want the mosquitoes to go away then make the water flow again."
I am uniquely skilled at providing you with a natural and integrated approach to your health problems. Naturopathic medicine treats your entire person – not just your illness – and emphasizes prevention and lifestyle education as the cornerstones of true wellness. My holistic approach to diagnosing and treating disease brings together the best of the following therapeutics:
- Clinical Nutrition
- Herbal Medicine
- Western Medicine (including full prescriptive authority)
- Physical Medicine
- Lifestyle Counseling
I follow the core principles of Naturopathic Medicine to accomplish the goal of restoring health:
- First, Do No Harm
- The Healing Power of Nature
- Find the Cause
- Doctor as Teacher
- Treat the Whole Person
- Preventative Medicine
Nurse Practitioner (Back to Top)
I am fully licensed by the State of New Mexico as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. This license affords me full prescriptive authority and insurance reimbursement through most major carriers. With over 15 years experience in a major teaching hospital, I have a rich understanding of complex medical problems and a Western approach to treatment.
Nurse Practitioners must have graduate level education at least at the Master's Degree level from an accredited university. They must be certified by sitting for a rigorous exam administered by a national organization such as the American Nurses Association.
